Google’s PageSpeed Insights has quietly grown a new score. Alongside Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO, sites now get an “Agentic Browsing” score \u2014 a measure of whether an AI agent like Gemini, ChatGPT Atlas, or Comet can actually use your site, not just read it. It’s still experimental, but it’s live, and most Indian business sites we’ve checked are failing it. If you want an AI agent ready website<\/strong>, here’s what the score checks and what to fix first.<\/p>\n

What the Agentic Browsing Score Checks<\/h2>\n

Google added this to Lighthouse<\/a> (the engine behind PageSpeed Insights) in May 2026. Instead of one number, you get a pass\/fail ratio across a few checks: whether buttons and links have proper machine-readable labels, whether your layout stays stable while loading (agents that screenshot a page get confused by content jumping around), and whether you have an llms.txt<\/code> file at your domain root describing your site. You don’t need AI features to score well \u2014 just clean, well-structured HTML.<\/p>\n

Add an llms.txt File<\/h2>\n

This is a plain text file at yourdomain.com\/llms.txt that tells AI crawlers and agents what your site covers and which pages matter most \u2014 a sitemap written for language models instead of search bots. Google’s guidance checks for a proper heading, real detail, and links to key pages, not a placeholder. Do this:<\/strong> write a short summary of your business, list your 5-10 most important pages with one-line descriptions, and publish it at your domain root.<\/p>\n

Clean Up Buttons, Links, and Forms<\/h2>\n

AI agents don’t “see” a page the way a person does \u2014 they read the accessibility tree, a structured map of every clickable and fillable element. A button that’s really a styled <div><\/code> with no label, or a form field with no associated name, is invisible to an agent even though a human can click it fine. Do this:<\/strong> give every button and link real text or an aria-label, and every form field a proper label tag \u2014 basic accessibility practice that pays off here too.<\/p>\n

Get Your Layout to Stop Jumping Around<\/h2>\n

Images without set dimensions, or ads that push content down after the page has rendered, mean a high Cumulative Layout Shift score \u2014 and it doesn’t just annoy human visitors, it throws off agents clicking based on where an element was a second ago. Do this:<\/strong> set explicit width and height on every image, and reserve space for ads or embeds before they load.<\/p>\n

Check where your own site stands for free \u2014 run your URL through PageSpeed Insights and look for the new category.
